By the end of December, I have a million little leftover bits of yarn laying around my house. Right after Christmas, I almost immediately make a resolution to use up all that scrap yarn. This cowl was designed to use all the little leftovers in your stash. Worked in 25 bite-sized sections, I wrote this pattern to use the leftover yarn from my advent yarn kit, but you don’t need an advent kit to knit this cowl. I loved working the What Tomorrow Brings shawl, and so I created this quick project in the advent calendar style to continue the countdown fun!

Each section of this cowl is tiny, so you can race through the entire pattern all at once or just do knit little bitty section a day for 25 days. Plus, this pattern includes a specific yardage breakdown for each of the 25 colors required for this cowl. AND, because of the many textures used in this design, it even looks beautiful in a single color. BONUS: The pattern includes a coloring page so you can plan ahead.

Worked SEAMLESSLY from the top down, it knits up quickly (like any good cowl should), but wears like a hassle-free shawl. Unlike traditional tube cowls that rumple into a pile of knitting around your neck, this shawl-shaped construction lets your knitting shine by creating a triangular front and shortened back. The shape is wonderful, wearable, and just plain fun to knit.

This Cowl Includes:

  • 25 Bite-Size sections
  • Top-Down, Seamless Construction
  • Shawl-Shaped Wearability
  • Lots of fun, uncomplicated textures
  • Charts & Written Instructions
  • A coloring page
