What could be better than a pair of stylish, super soft, handknit socks for the baby on your gift-giving list?
Babies seem to have a special talent for kicking off their socks and booties, but my socks are virtually kick proof. They feature a knit in heel flap, which keep the sock firmly anchored on the baby’s foot, and ribbing that conforms to the baby’s leg shape for a customized fit.
The socks are also convertible: Leave the top long to provide more coverage in cold weather, or turn the top down into a cuff for a different look and to provide less coverage.
Since babies come in all sizes, simply adjust the needle size you use to make a larger sock. Use size 0 needles for newborns and up to size 2 needles to make socks that fit feet up to US 4 infant shoe size.
The following skills/stitches are used in the pattern:
using double-point needles, knit, purl, k2tog, p2tog, ssk, yo, picking up stitches, kitchener stitch
