Lithuanian Amber Socks (2011)
by Nancy Bush
Summary: These socks are an update of the Lithuanian Amber Socks pattern published in the original edition of Folk Socks. The gauge, needle size, yarn thickness, and stitch counts have been changed from the previous version.
Additional Yarn Information:
- 1 skein Goldenrod (gold)
- 1 skein Black
From the pattern introduction:
This sock design comes directly from a photograph of an undated pair of socks in the National Museum of Lithuania in Vilnius. The originals are made of black and natural gray wool. The inspiration for amber yarn for the main color in this design comes from the precious fossil resin, amber, found along the Baltic coastline. These socks have a Dutch Heel and a Wedge Toe.
