Listopad (dropped stitch scarf)
This sock yarn was dyed by one of our local artists. The color was inspired by one of the Portland bridges, the Burnside bridge. I bought this yarn to support local artists at the sock summit 2011.
When I bought this yarn, right away I imagined our Burnside bridge covered with falling leaves. I incorporated dropped stitches as an element of design. They remind me of the structural features of the bridge. Also the leaves appear like they are falling, when they are suspended between the dropped stitches.
The set up row is written, then a very easy chart will take you through a fast and fun adventure. The bind off is fun and interesting one. The culmination and thrill comes, when you let the dropped stitches unravel to the cast on edge. It almost feels like you are bungee jumping off the bridge and your leaves are starting to fall and envelop you as you land with a fun scarf around your neck.
The finished size is 18 X 64 inches, which could easily modified to your liking.
This pattern has been test knitted. If you’ll encounter any errors or have questions, welcome to send me PM. More on the process and inspiration of this design I shared on my blog.
