Something old and definitely something new! The simple, graphic colorwork on this hat follows time-honored Fair Isle traditions, while the shape is fresh & modern. Your personal choices of yarn texture & color can emphasize the clean, classic look, or suggest a softer, more ethnic style.

This pattern was written specifically for use in teaching a beginner Fair Isle project. It includes graphs for 3 different colorways plus a B&W version, as well as an insert with notes on color selection, working tips, and ways to avoid the “jog”.
It also has a chart with yardage requirements for each separate pattern band!

Needles: one 16” circular needle and one set of double point needles, US #6, or whatever size is needed to obtain the correct gauge.
