This pattern uses one of Dorothy Reade’s charts that I found in her unpublished papers. It can be used as a single motif such as in this bag, or as a tile to sew together into larger items such as a bedspread.

This is made in two pieces, then the border is added by picking up stitches around most of the medallion. Pieces are joined with 3 needle BO, then the strap and button flap are added. The finished bag is lined with fabric and interfacing for additional body.
