The Lilac Wine Tam has a classic tam construction coupled with an asymmetrical brocade pattern that can work with any two colors of yarn, provided they have a strong value contrast.

Only one ball of each color is needed! The tam in the photo used #153 Wild Violet for the pattern and #599 Zodiac for the background (so the pattern is light on a dark background)--the colors evoked a phrase from a Mimi & Richard Fariña song from the 1960s.

Tam construction is simple--the iconic shape is created by blocking the tam over a dinner plate.
