Lighthouse Tunic
From the book “Deep South Knitting” and inspired by Tybee Island, Georgia. Now available for download. Pattern includes Georgia travel info and Peach Cobbler recipe.
If you are planning a visit to historic and beautiful Savannah, don’t forget to pack your swimsuit for a jaunt to Tybee Island. One of the lesser-known gems of Atlantic beaches, this tiny barrier island just 18 miles from Savannah boasts a three mile stretch of wide, flat, pristine white sand. Since 1773, the Tybee Island Lighthouse, painted in an eye-popping graphic stripe, has been standing guard over the island.
The lighthouse inspired this body-skimming tunic, great to wear over a pair of white capris, shorts or your bathing suit. The swing-away design and color-blocking are a nod to the lighthouse’s shape and stripes. Its mid-thigh length and soft drape will flatter a wide range of body shapes and sizes. Wear it over a tank for a layered look, or wear it alone to show your tan off to its best advantage. Either way, you may need some guarding of your own!
