SRK 140 Light & Lacy Crochet Top
Sandi Prosser for Kertzer c.2008

Everyone needs one (or better yet, many) of these in their wardrobe. It’s such a versatile piece that you can wear it in every season and with almost anything else. It dresses up every outfit and is a sensual marvel to wear. The back neck is straight across (all pieces are worked from top to lower edge), the front begins in two shoulder pieces that are joined after you create a satisfying scoop, and the sleeves are a wonderful length. Prosser’s pattern notes that “there is virtually no difference in shell pattern between right and wrong side”, and that’s a help too. Gauge is 4 shells and 8 rows to 4”/10cm using a 5.5mm (US I/9) hook. Crochet terminology is American. Ovation is no longer around, but was one of those fantastic laceweight mohair/silk blends of which many are still available. This piece would be equally effective in a solid or variegated version.
