The Lenny Jumper is a cosy little polo-neck jumper, perfect for beginners.

Knitted in aran weight yarn, it has fewer stitches to cast on than a DK weight jumper, making it a great first garment project.

It’s designed to keep little ones warm while they run around outside in crisp autumn weather, and the garter stitch adds a lovely texture while keeping the knitting process calm and relaxing – perfect for when you’re winding down after a busy day of chasing after little adventurers!

Originally featured in my Knitted With Love book (currently out of print), this design is now available as a single pattern. And if you’d like to knit a matching jumper for yourself, the Philippa Jumper follows the same simple and classic design for adults!

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted fat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop shoulder. The neck edge is picked up and knitted.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, decreasing at the neck shaping, increasing on the sleeves, cast of. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch and three needle cast off.
