The body is made in one piece, working back and forth on a circular needle up to the armhole. The back and front sections are worked separately up to the shoulders, which are joined with a three-needle bind-off. The sleeves are picked up at the armhole and knitted down to the cuffs on circular or double-pointed needles. The collar and button band are worked in one piece in garter stitch.
