This shawl is worked while holding 4 or 5 strands of yarn together to get gauge, and is meant to be used as a stash-buster. As you come to the end of one yarn, try to pick out another yarn of a similar weight to replace it- but it doesn’t have to be exact. This project has a forgiving gauge.

I chose the yarns for my shawls based on colour. I dove into my stash and found the ends leftover from other projects, and single skeins I had been saving for a rainy day that all worked within the same colour families. One of my shawls was made using creams/ greys/ black, and the other was browns/ greys/ black. I used them to create a gradual ombre pattern as I worked, starting with lighter colours and ending with darker colours.

Approximately 650g of stash yarns in varying weights between light fingering and aran weight
(The more yarns you have to make up the 650g the more heather your work will look)

Needles
15mm (US 19) circular needles at least 36” (90cm) in length

Gauge
6 sts x 8 rows = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm)
