Colorful leaves in various sizes embellish a nubby-textured scarf worked in three earthy tones of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. The leaves are knit in four colors of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed and arranged and sewn on to one side of the scarf using a simple, modified whip stitch. The back of the scarf is plain; pattern stitch is reversible.

The three colors of the scarf are worked one at a time, one color per row with the color(s) not in use carried up the side of the scarf. The pattern explains exactly how to do this.

Directions are given for leaves in four different sizes -- arrange them in your own unique pattern on one side of the scarf.

Leaves are Falling is the second design in my Resolution: Stash-Buster series; all yarns used were single skeins waiting patiently in my stash, as follows:

1 skein each of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (for scarf):

Color A (Barn Owl)
Color B (Fossil)
Color C (Snowbound)

1 ball each of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed (for leaves):

Color #25963 (Persimmon Heather)
Color #25451 (Brass Heather)
Color #25452 (Autumn Heather)
Color #25456 (Dill Heather)

Note: Only partial balls of the Wool of the Andes Tweed will be used, depending upon the number and size of leaves made.

Gauge is not critical for this design and it could be worked in any number of yarns. The width of the scarf can be varied by casting on more or fewer stitches, and the length is up to the individual knitter.
