Easy for beginner crocheters, uses all the basic stitches and is made up of motifs joined together, so if one part goes wrong, it is easy to fix. There is no shaping involved. Joining the motifs takes a little concentration initially.

You could use any DK weight yarn, though a cotton might be too heavy. This book is full of luscious but do-able patterns.
