This is the second version of the fourth pattern in Craft Work Knit, my self-published collection of 10 new patterns.

My neighbors, dedicated bikers, had a baby, and I wanted to knit something that would suit their taste. Additionally, they didn’t know the baby’s sex, so I chose to use unisex, “adult” colors for my design. Le Mans was the first pattern I developed, based on the racing suit Steve McQueen wears in the movie of the same name.

The body of this jacket is knit in one piece to the armholes, then worked in pieces to the shoulders. The sleeves are worked flat and seamed. After the jacket is assembled, stitches are picked up along the neck to knit the collar. This is a great small project to try out intarsia or some new finishing techniques, because the knitting required is minimal!

The stripes of the jacket are simple intarsia, and the jacket closes with a zipper.

Instructions for both the Le Mans and Death Race versions of this pattern are included in this PDF.
