Laster arte (Basque for ‘see you soon’) is a crescent shaped shawl which starts with 5 stitches and has subsequent two stitch increases at each end of every right side row and one stitch at each end of every wrong side row.

It is for both beginners who wish to stretch themselves and has enough to keep the interest of the more advanced knitter.  To aid the more visual knitter, a chart of colour, stitch techniques and stitch count is on each page.

Techniques include laddering down, eyelets, short rows and bind off/cast on within a row, as well as deconstructed seed stitch, interspersed with rows of stocking and garter stitch.  Ideal for using up that tricky to use variegated yarn plus assorted balls of other yarns, waiting for something interesting to take part in!

There are options to do a longer or a shorter version. The main photo is the shorter version and the second is the longer. The difference is approximately 300 metres of yarn as it affects one of the widest sections of the shawl.

There are videos showing all techniques used.  It is quite a relaxing knit and I was able to complete it in a couple of weeks.    I knit it in stash yarn, which was principally in cotton sport weight plus a part ball of Drops brushed mohair for the ‘holey’ band.  You can use any yarn you have in stash but bear in mind that if you choose another weight of yarn it will impact the metrage required.
