Brioche knitting creates wonderful textures and patterns that are reversible. However, sometimes the fabric it creates can be bulky and more challenging to shape. With Lakedale, I challenged myself to design a shaped, streamlined garment featuring brioche techniques. The jacket fronts feature small two-color brioche cable columns that lend a striking visual impact with slimming vertical lines. Since the patterning is completely reversible, the collar can be worn straight or folded.

The jacket body is worked bottom-up with a two-color brioche edging. Front plackets and set-in sleeves are worked separately, then seamed to the garment body. The sleeves are worked in the round until the sleeve cap shaping.

Gauge:

• 24.5 sts and 29 rows = 4”/ 10cm in St st using larger needle
• 18 sts and 28 rows = 4”/ 10cm in Brioche Edging using smaller needle
• 27 sts and 33 rows = 4.75”/ 12cm in Front Placket Chart
