Lady Jane's Leaf
This pattern started with 1841 Jane Gaugain’s The Lady’s Assistant for…Knitting, Netting and Crochet Work, 4th edition, p.120. There was no image, so I didn’t know how it would look until I knitted it. I changed Jane’s pattern from in-the-round to flat knitting by adding purl rows. I also modified the pattern from a stitch pattern to an afghan strip due to issues with some of the decreases. My revised pattern has 24 rows with 3 12-stitch repeats and 4 selvage stitches.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SSK, SK2P and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
63 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of a 40-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
