This is an easier-than-it-looks lace pattern from Mrs. (Jane) Gaugain, published in 1841 in the U.K.
I converted her in-the-round pattern to 12 rows just by adding purl rows. There’s a multiple of 14 stitches + 4 edge stitches I added so the swatch would block with straighter edges.
This pattern is very similar to the popular Horseshoe Stitch in Barbara G. Walker’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, p.209. Barbara’s version omits the narrow columns of alternating yarn overs.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SK2P and bind off.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
