Lacy Crescent Thing
I told my tech editor about this pattern a while back, letting her know what I was working on, what to expect to be added to her work queue. A few weeks later I let her know that it was blocking, and was nearly ready for her. I still didn’t have a name chosen for the pattern, and so referred to it as that “lacy crescent thing.” She thought that was an awesome name for the design, thus proving that at times naming a thing is no more complicated than describing it in its simplest terms.
Shawl is worked from a long cast on starting with the lace pattern at the bottom border, short rows are worked in garter stitch to shape it into a pleasing crescent before it’s finished off with a simple frilly edge.
Size (length measured along top of lace just under short rows): 25.5 x 9, 32.75 x 10 (40 x 11, 47 x 12) inches; 65 x 22, 83 x 25 (101.5 x 28, 119.5 x 31) cm.
Yarn: 225 325 (450, 550) yards (205, 300 (410, 500) meters) fingering weight yarn.
Skills: crochet cast on, k2tog, ssk, YO, double YO, s2-k1-p2sso, short rows, applied border.
Notions: stitch markers are optional, yarn needle.
Stitch patterns: Charted and written.
