Lacy Cables Knee Socks - A Recipe
Unstretched, the lace pattern does appear like simple cables which led to the pattern’s name.
Not sure you really want to wear knee-length socks? Not sure whether you have got enough yarn? These socks are worked toe-up because it makes adjusting size and calf shaping to personal preference much easier. And you can do it on the fly, too :-) Just try on your socks once in a while and decide where you have to alter things a bit. Make sure to take notes so you can work your second sock the same way.
There is no spelling out how to cast-on, work toes, heels or how to cast-off here. Neither are there instructions provided for different sizes. Therefore this pattern is probably best called a ‘recipe’.
Notes on sizing by fellow knitter KnitWest
“I’m 5’9”. When I knit these I omit the last “repeat this 3 times” part of the chart and omit the last pattern repeats at the top as well and the sock comes to my knee nicely. I have a wider than average calf and I add only 4 stitches to make the sock wide enough for my calf. (p’s between the pattern repeats added in the 9 ankle repeats)”
Note on the PDF file: While it says in the file “page 1 of 9” and so on the file actually contains only 3 pages. It’s a technical glitch I apologize for.
