Lachak is a light, drapey stole knit in fingering-weight yarn. The lace fabric is formed by yarn-overs framing diamond-shaped sections of plain stockinette that are opened up further by another lacy pattern worked within each “diamond”.

This version is knit using size 7 needles and the Cascade 220 Fingering (which is a light-ish fingering weight yarn) that, combined with the open pattern, make the fabric pleasingly soft and drapey.

The stole can be made wider or narrower, longer or shorter by adding or leaving out pattern repeats.

The pattern includes both a chart and written instructions.

Finished Dimensions: Length – 70 inches; Width – 18 inches

Gauge – 20 stitches and 24 rows per 4 inches, measured over the main Lachak stitch pattern after blocking

Supplies:

Yarn:
Three 50-gram skeins of the Cascade 220 Fingering or approximately 800 yards of any fingering or light-fingering weight yarn that blocks well. I personally prefer 100-percent non-superwash wool for patterns like this one.

Needles:
--US size 7 or 4.5 mm needles for knitting (recommended - 24” circular needles; or any length and type that would accommodate between 16 and 20 inches of stitches)

--Optional - US size 9 or 5.5 mm needles for casting on loosely
