I love my use of the Norwegian thimble. I hope you can try out and love it just as much. Please see the tutorials, hopefully they will make sense of what you are doing and help you learn a new technique.
Bonus to this stich pattern is that the “left” side looks amazing as well.
I think it’s fair to say you get 2 hats in one, because there is no wrong side. Enjoy!
Sizes: S, M, L
Circumference 18, 22, 25 in (46, 56, 63 cm), Height 12 in (25 cm)
Smallest size outside the brackets, consecutive sizes inside the parentheses. Shown on a model with a 20 in head circumference in size M.
Gauge:
Feed yarn into Norwegian thimble as: Light colour into closest loop, dark colour into furthest loop. If not using the thimble method, the light colour is dominant.
22 sts/ 28 rows knitted in the round
Round 1: K1 L, k1 D
Round 2: P1 L, p1 D
4 in/10 cm square. Knitted using size 7 US (4.5mm) needles.
Please take time to achieve gauge, adjust needle size as needed.
Yarn:
Any super wash worsted 4 ply 1 skein= 210 yards (192meters) in 100g
2 contrasting colours
1 light coloured (L)skein, I dark (D) coloured skein Half of each skein will be used.

• Size 7 US (4.5 mm) 16 in (40 cm) circular needles, DPN’s of same size, (alternatively
Magic Loop can be used)
• Stitch marker to denote BOR,
• Darning needle.
Skills needed:
• Knitting Stranded,
• Simple knit and purl sts, as well as knitting through the back loop,
• Purl 2 stitches together,
• Knitting in the round, small and larger circumferences,
• Bicoloured backward loop cast on,
• Use of Norwegian thimble strongly encouraged.
Notes about construction:
Knitted in the round, bottom up, in one piece. Using stranded knitting technique utilizing the Norwegian thimble. Contrasting colours are recommended for the design, however single colour hat is possible.
