This ethnographic mitten from Rucava begins with a picot edge. The colorwork begins on the inside of the cuff. The cuff itself is knit in four colors whereas the upper mitten is knit in three. The roses, the charming and complex cuff together with the colorwork inside of the picot edged cuff are examples of the fine mittens that come from the Ruvcava region.

Rucava sits in the southwest corner of Latvia near the Baltic Sea and the border with Lithuania.
