Kurzeme, Rucava, p 386
This ethnographic mitten from Rucava begins with a picot edge on the cuff. The cuff and upper mitten are knit with two, three, and four colors contemporaneously. There are examples of a similar mitten in the Museum of Liepajas using color schema with purple and gold with dabs of turquoise and a cuff with white and pale blue on a black background (see Kurzeme, Rucava, p 404). The Rucavas mittens are knit at a fine gauge. The mittens are colorful and often have floral designs.
Rucava sits in the southwest corner of Latvia next to the Baltic Sea and near the border with Lithuania.
Changes to the yarn and/or needles will influence the gauge. Check your gauge in pattern before casting on.
