Knotty Fireside Hat
This is the second in a series of designs designs created for The Knotty Goat Fiber Company in Columbia, MO.
This super bulky weight hat uses 2 simple texture patterns to create a fun, warm hat that will fit most adults.
Easily stretches to fit head size 17” -23”/ 43 cm – 58 cm
Width: 16.5 (unstretched)”/42 cm
Length: 9”/23 cm
This stitch pattern will really only make one size in bulky yarn because of the number required for the pattern repeat. However, it can easily be modified using different yarn weights with appropriately sized needle to create different sizes. Just cast on a multiple of 20, work as many repeats of the 28 rnd pattern as needed to get desired length then follow the same instructions for the crown decreases. The crown decrease assumes ending with rnd 27.
I recommend placing stitch markers every 10 stitches to help see when you change from K2P2 rib to moss stitch which is a variation of K2P rib and can get confusing at first until the pattern is established.
The sample only took 2 hours from start to finish so if you are looking for a fun, quick project this is just what you need!
Need the entire ensemble? There’s also a capelet or wrap that matches.
Because this is a free pattern it has not been tech edited so if you find any errors or unclear instructions, please let me know! Thanks!
