Knitted Lace Mittens for a Lady
by Weldons
This pattern was first published in Weldon’s Practical Needlework, Volume 24, 1909.
Judy Alexander made sample lace mittens for Knitting Traditions, Fall 2013 (Lace-Issue), where the pattern itself is also (re-)published. The yarn weight and yardage and needle size given above refer to the sample lace mittens from J. Alexander.
Originally it suggests: “For a mitten with an arm length measuring 12 inches work with 1 ounce of Messrs. Head & Sons’ 4-ply fine knitting silk and four short needles, No. 20.”
The pattern is written only and is less detailed then modern pattern use to be. There is no gauge given.
