Knit me!
As soon as Alice starts her journey into Wonderland, she is met by numerous invitations she can not refuse. One of them is the little “Eat me!” cake. Whenever I think about these mittens I feel the same — already in the store this yarn called to me: “Save me!”. At home I found it impossible to resist the call of these mittens: “Knit me!”. Have you started your journey in entrelac knitting? Are you ready for the next challenge? Do you have a yarn in your stash calling you to start a new adventure?
This is a brand new, improved version of my entrelac mittens. They start with a single block at the fingertips. And then step by step, turn by turn they are knitted entirely in entrelac. All the thumb blocks are worked as you go, without stopping and cutting the yarn. This way you can adjust the length of the mitten cuff to your desired length. It is possible to make these mittens in just the right size for the recipient.
The best yarn for this project would be sport weight yarn (300 m/100 g). You may also alternate the yarns between tiers either from 2 (or more) different balls or from opposite ends of the same ball, if using a yarn with gradient colour changes. You may use leftovers and scraps as well. Let the colour of the yarn inspire and guide you!
My entrelac cowl Down the Rabbit Hole and my Wonderland hat would match perfectly with these mittens.
