Kinship Square
This square is a marriage of Rhondda Mol’s beautiful Kinship Mandala and my instructions for squaring a mandala with a final-round stitch count of 160 stitches using a modified version of Sophie’s Universe Part 4.
It celebrates the friendship Rhondda and I (and so many of us) have found through stitching together across continents. Now, more than ever, we are all finding comfort in this beautiful shared craft of ours, and that is truly something to celebrate!
You can find all the details for both of our colourways on my website. The mandala pattern contains round-by-round photos, but the squaring up instructions are written-only (although links are provided for the photo and video tutorials for Part 4 of Sophie’s Universe).
Both parts of this pattern are free, although there is also the option of buying an ad-free PDF for the mandala.
- Making this square using Chunky Monkey and a 5.5mm hook will yield a 42cm x 42cm (16.5″ x 16.5″) square.
- Making this square using Stonewashed and a 3.5mm hook will yield a 35.5cm x 35.5cm (14″ x 14″) square.
Both sizes are perfect for a cushion cover and would look brilliant extended into an afghan.
Rhondda and I hope that you will enjoy making this square!
All our love,
Rhondda and Dedri
