King Alfred the Great Tea Cosy
The King Alfred the Great Tea Cosy knitting pattern from TeaCosyFolk depicts the first Saxon king, dressed in medieval attire.
The tea cosy has Alfred stood in his medieval attire, in a smock and a cloak. I have chosen a ‘middle ages’ inspired colour pallet, assuming that the fabric dyes of the time were probably plant based dyes.
The crown on his head is a simple affair, just a band with a nod towards fleur-de-lis standing up from it.
The king is holding a board of burned cakes. There is a legend about King Alfred that says that he took refuge in a peasants house, and was asked to keep an eye on some bread cakes in the oven. But he forgot about them and they burnt, and the board of burnt cakes is a reference to that legend.
He’s a lovely tea cosy that will appeal to people who love history and love to engage in armchair archology.
The Alfred the Great tea cosy fits a medium sized teapot that covers a Teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups.
The pattern will be available for digital download as soon as you have completed purchase, so you could start knitting him very soon!
This product is the knitting pattern only to make your own Alfred the Great tea cosy.
