This vest is knit from the shoulders down the back, then picked up from a provisional cast on to knit the fronts which are finally seamed together using mattress stitch. Casting on provisionally isn’t strictly necessary you could do you chosen cast on & pick up from that for the fronts.

Shown cropped & somewhat fitted it also looks great worn oversized. Model is a 34” bust modeling the 38” size. The measurements are edge to edge & there is an intentional gap left open in front.
