Scrap blankets are my comfort knit. I love nothing more than snuggling on the couch working through my scrap basket whilst bingeing on a good TV series or audiobook on a winter’s night. Kindling Blanket was inspired by a log cabin blanket I knit many years ago. Wanting to try something new with my scrap blankets, I wondered what it would look like if I only built up along two sides of the initial rectangle. The result was delightful and the name seemed obvious.

Knit with cosy DK/8ply weight yarn, Kindling Blanket is the ideal project for working through your scrap basket and stash to create a kaleidoscope of colours to snuggle under. This is a super easy and meditative knit.

While my sample is knit in DK/8ply weight yarn, Kindling Blanket can be worked up in any yarn weight.

Construction:
Kindling Blanket starts with a small rectangle. Stitches are kept live as additional blocks of colour are knit to the top and then the side of the block, along with picked up stitches, creating a seamless knit.

Sizing:
Any blanket size from baby right through to king-size bedspread due to the modular construction.

Sample throw-size blanket measures approximately 60 x 52 inches/ 152 x 132 cms.
