Kid Chimera
Out of all the pieces I have knitted for my son over the years, he has always most loved anything that can transform—an accessory that can transform from one type to another, or a piece that can work either as regular clothes or costumewear for neighborhood hijinks.
his accessory can be worn buttoned up all the way as a slouchy hat—just let the pointy top flop down in back—or with the top four buttons unbuttoned for a kerchief-like cowl. Is it time to be an elf? Let the point of the hat stick straight up! Is it time to make a quick getaway? Pull the cowl up around your neck and face and sprint for the hills.
Knit this in a soft, superwash merino for no itching and easy care. Buy buttons specifically for this project, or have fun mixing and matching from your button stash.
Shown in 17” (greens and browns) and
181⁄2” (blues and reds).
Sample 1 (greens and browns): That Somewhere Sample 2 (blues and reds): Metamorphosis
