Originally worked as a mystery knitalong, Kelly is an asymmetrical triangle worked in two different directions, with some picking up of stitches required. Two versions are offered, in both laceweight and 4-ply yarns. 100g/800m of laceweight and 195g/585m of 4-ply will be required.

The design incorporates cable elements as well as lace, is finished with a lace edging and there are options for beading. It is possible to increase the size of the shawl if required.

I’d suggest a yarn with a bit of “body”, so possibly a wool or wool blend, and something not too variegated, would be best for the design so that the cables stand out well.

There is a thread for the MKAL in the Watercolours and Lace Group here.

Correction:
There is an error in the pattern - In the written instructions for Section E, Row 19, the repeat should read:
k2tog, yo, k3, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k5;
Delete the k2tog, yo, k1 which is shown after this.
The chart is correct.
A new version 1.3 was issued on 18 April 2018.
