Kavanaught
I do not consider myself a particularly vocal person when it comes to politics but the nomination of Kavanaugh, in light of the allegations against him, and his conduct on the stand, has truly gotten to me. I grew up in the D.C. metro area and attended a private school in Bethesda. Kavanaugh’s travesty of justice hits very close to home for me as I know exactly what the culture there was like. My heart aches for all the women who experienced it and the unrepentant men who refuse to learn from it.
This is a design I whipped up on the fly and released ASAP so we can knit through our rage together. I’m planning a much larger piece using this motif but I had such a positive experience knitting this panel I figured I should share it immediately. Don’t think of it as a swatch though, think of it as an exercise in self care. Sew it on as a patch. Hang it on your wall. Burn it in effigy. I don’t know what you should do with it, just like I don’t know what any of us should do with this sham. Do whatever helps you expel some of the boundless rage that is building up inside so many of us.
I used less than half a skein (70 yards?) of each color.
Gauge and yarn weight are not terribly important for this project. Pick some yarn. Pick some needles. Stab things.
