The first in a series of patterns inspired by my Norwegian heritage - designed to create cozy comfort while honoring traditional motifs.

The Karine Cowl is a simple colorwork pattern worked in the round with no decreases or increases. Uses a tubular cast on.

Materials -
Fiber MacGyver Shaniko DK & Suri Silk DK
DK yarn in two colors (sample uses Suri Silk DK for CC):
85, 125 yards for MC and
50, 75 yards for CC

Size US 6, 16” circular needles
(or size needed to obtain gauge)

Samples were knit in the following
colors:

Size 1
MC Champagne
CC Roasted Pecan

Size 2
MC Oscar
CC Pearl

Gauge -
4 x 4” = 21 stitches and 22 rows
in colorwork (blocked)

Two sizes 1, 2 to give more of a tighter buff type feel 1 or a
roomier close-knit cowl 2.

Final measurements:
Size 1 - 8” tall, 18” circumference
Size 2 - 8” tall, 24” circumference
