First Shawl Design of 2016 Is Kalliope’s Shawl.

Kalliope, was the eldest of the Mousai (Muses), the goddesses of music, song and dance. She was also the goddess of eloquence, who bestowed her gift on kings and princes.

This stitch pattern is so much fun to knit and the beads really compliment the harp shape. Naturally flowing top down in 3 triangle shapes bound together with soft twisted stitch lace columns and transitioning into a beaded lace feather and fan pattern. Option included for adding two repeats of the feather and fan border before knitting the beaded vine edging onto the bottom of the shawl.

Great opportunity for adding beads ~ or not ~ throughout the shawl or just the edging. I used drop magatama beads at the tips of the edging on my medium sized Kallipe’s Shawl.
Measurements depend on type of yarn used: Small 58-60” x 24-26”; Medium 60-62” x 26-28”; Large 62-64” x 28-30”

Yarn requirements in the pattern are always over-estimated because everyone knits differently. I’d rather you have enough rather than not enough yarn.

4 a) Repeat rows 1 through 12 4/5/6 times total. Add 54 sts per repeat 361/415/469sts
