Length (horizontal): 160(185)cm/63(73) ’’
Radius: 78(85)cm/31(33.5)’’

Yarn:
Hand-spun silk in sport weight, 425m per 100g in two contrasting color.
LC- shown in coral- 230m/251yd (257m/281yd) for edging, 375m/410yd (600m/656yd) for shawl body.
DC- shown in graphite- 410m/448yd (540m/590.5yd).

Gauge after blocking:
Mosaic- 20 sts and 38 rows= 10x10 cm/4’’x4’’ in swatch pattern attached on p.11.
Garter- 18 sts and 20 rows= 10x10 cm/4’’x4’’.

Needles:
Shawl body: 93cm/37’’ long circular needles in size 4mm/US 6 or any other size to maintain gauge. Due to differences in mosaic gauge the shawl body should be worked in at least one size larger needles than worked with usually for this yarn.
Garter edge: 3.5/US 4 or any other size to maintain gauge.

Materials: stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Stitch Patterns:
-Mosaic- worked in two colors, one color is worked at a time. The pattern is created by slipping the stitches of the row below which are in a contrasting color without knitting them. This is a very simple technique, suitable also for beginners.

Techniques:
-Short rows: the first and last 4 sts are to be worked only on the DC rows. Therefore, on LC rows those sts will not be worked and short rows method will be applied in the W&T technique.
-Cable CO: insert RHN bet 2 sts of LHN, k1 through this gap, twist st and place on LHN.

General instructions for Mosaic knitting:
As you slip the stitches of the row below, carry your yarn on the WS of work- always in the back when working in the round, and when working flat in the back when working the odd number rows RS and in the front as you work the even number rows WS.
