“Just Wanna Have Fun” is a mystery journey designed to keep you curious from the first stitch to the last. This shawl features six distinct sections, each exploring different textured and lace patterns. I specifically chose this structure to ensure the project stays interesting and engaging throughout the entire knit.

Mystery KAL Schedule
• March 26 (Thursday): Clue 1 – Kickoff!
• March 27 (Friday): Clue 2 – from the Swiss Yarn Festival!
• March 28 (Saturday): Clue 3 – from the Swiss Yarn Festival!
• March 31 (Tuesday): Clue 4
• April 4 (Saturday): Clue 5
• April 10 (Friday): Clue 6 – The Final Sprint
• April 25 (Saturday): End of the Ride

Yarn
600 to 650 meters (656 to 711 yards) of fingering or sport weight yarn. See suggestions for colour options on Page 2.

Needle
3.75 mm (US 5) or 4 mm (US 6) circular needle, 100 cm (40 inches)

Choosing Your Colour(s)
The shawl is all about texture, so here is a fair warning: variegated yarns might “steal the show” and hide the stitch work. In my opinion, solids, semi-solids, tonals, and gradients work best to let the texture shine.

The Story Behind the Release
I actually designed and tested this shawl back in 2023, but in January 2024, I went back to teaching. As I don’t do anything half-heartedly, I’ve been swamped with work ever since and the pattern has just been sitting in my drawer.

I’ve decided it’s time to finally share it, but I have to be realistic about my schedule. Since my work at school is quite intense, I know for sure that I won’t be able to be as present as I usually am. I went back and forth on whether to start a KAL under these circumstances, but I just didn’t want to let this pattern go to waste. That is why I’m releasing it now as a free Mystery KAL (it will become a paid pattern once the KAL is over).

It is also a bit of a goodbye for now (but definitely not forever), because I really don’t know when I’ll be able to release another pattern after this one. That is why I really hope you’ll join me. I would be so happy to knit together with you once again.

Meet me at Swiss Yarn Festival! Since the KAL begins right as the Swiss Yarn Festival (March 27–29) kicks off, I’d love for us to meet in person! If you’re attending, let’s chat about the pattern, compare yarn choices, and share our progress on the first few clues. Look out for my stand (Ágnes Kutas – Fields of Yarn), I can’t wait to see your WIPs live!
