The Juniata Park Cowl is worked flat and the ends are joined to create a cowl of texture and shifting color. A simple one row repeat keeps continuity in texture while a subtle change in the color sequences produces every-changing stripes. The side edges are smoothly finished with an I-cord edging that is worked at the same time as the cowl.

The finished cowl has a width of 13.5” and a circumference of 41.5”.
It is long enough to wrap around your neck twice.

A total of five colors is used in this cowl, approximately 115 yards of each for a total of 575 yards.

Lay your colors out in the order you want to use them and label them A, B, C, D and E.

You will need a US size 4 (3.5mm) needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. While exact gauge is not important, it will affect the finished size of the cowl as well as the amount of yarn used.

The fabric created by the pattern stitch gently pleats. In order to retain the pleats, do not block aggressively: I recommend a gentle steam blocking rather than a wet blocking.
