July Butterfly
July Butterfly is the seventh pattern in the 2026: A Year of Butterflies series of large squares. Each month’s design can be made using interlocking crochet or overlay mosaic crochet.
I drew this month’s butterfly on Saskatchewan’s official provincial flower, the Prairie Lily.
See more about this year’s monthly square at https://ashleeslint.com/year-of/2026-year-butterflies/.
The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern. YouTube Tutorials
Mosaic crochet uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. YouTube Tutorials
