This pattern was created for the Lens Mill yarn of the month for July 2016, I was inspired be a Japanese pattern 28-18 Lace-top Camisole link text

When I downloaded it, it was a Japanese style pattern I have never worked with a Japanese designed pattern, I have heard about them from others but I have never worked with one myself. The bottom was knit but the lacework was in crochet I decided that it would be easier to redesign the the top to make it all knitting, so this is my version.

Unfortunately I am not a cute Asian girl and this top does not look as good on me as it could, but it does fit which I was a little surprised about. The ribbing in the body hugs or stretches where it is needed.

This pattern if fairly easy, and works up quickly, I made it a free pattern so I have not spent a lot of time editing and checking if there are mistakes (or paying for an editor) please let me know if there are mistakes so I can correct them.

If I was to make it again I would add a seed stitch edge at the beginning which is the bottom of the top and I would make it a little longer (the pattern is written for the top in the picture adjust as you wish).

Size options:

Note: I have a 40’’ bust and the small medium size fit me I have been asked to do a larger size so here are the numbers The small medium was made for a 34’’ bust. The new numbers are made for a 43’’ bust. (I have not tested it so if it’s not right please let me know.

Cast on 276 sts
work to 16’’/ 40cm (in length in rib pattern)
prep row: Cast off 18 sts, work 119 in pattern cast off 18 sts

place 120 back sts…….

Work Row 1 until rib measures 4’’/ 10cm from the underarm.

Works Rows 1-4 of lace pattern until work measures 5’’/ 12cm from the beginning of lace work…..

After First back panel

….pick up 60 sts…..

That should give you all the (replacement) numbers that you need.
