A pair of knitted sock cuffs from Eastern Karelia, held in the collections of the National Museum of Finland, was the source of inspiration for the design of Journeyman Mittens. The mittens have got two-colour ribbing which is often found in traditional Shetland knitwear.

Sizing

To fit medium sized men’s hands 21-22cm/8.5in in circumference

Finished measurements: 22.5cm/9in in circumference and 21cm/8.5in long from top of cuff to fingertips

Gauge

36 sts and 38 rows = 10cm/ 4in using 3mm needles over colourwork pattern

Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight –100% Real Shetland Wool (115m/125yds/25g ball)
Yarn A – Shade 81 Charcoal: 2 x 25g ball
Yarn B – Shade 78 Granit: 1 x 25g ball
