Jill-Walkers
These socks are result of combined inspiration from a few different patterns: The ruffle at the cuff uses I technique I was first introduced to in Jeanie Townsend’s “Best Wishes Socks”. The zigzag will probably be recognized by most from Grumperina’s Jaywalker socks, first published in the late Mag Knits. The idea to add a little laciness to the Jays was inspired by Carissa Brown’s take on the pattern.
While my pattern is heavily influenced by those mentioned above, the calculation and look are all my own. Because the final product most readily resembles the Jay’s, I like to think of these as the socks Jay’s girlie twin sister, Jill, might wear.
UPDATE
PDF pattern was updated on June 1, 2008 to correct an error in the instep pattern. Instep pattern rows should read:
Rnd 1: +yo, k8, sl2, k1, psso, k8, yo+ k1 (repeat sts between +’s once more)
Rnd 2: k all
PDF pattern was updated again on October 6, 2008 to clarify that all slipped stitches that precede “psso” should be slipped knit-wise.
