I love fingerless mitts because they are fast and don’t require a lot of fuss to finish, but the one downside is that you end up with this big gaping hole at the top of your palm that doesn’t stay snug on your hand. I started these as typical fingerless mitts with cables on the front, but as I got closer to the cast off for the first glove I had an idea - cast off but pick up the occasional stitch to create finger “holes” in the fingerless mitt.

These fingerless mitts boldly go where no mitt has gone before – individual holes for your fingers without having to fiddle with the finger tubes. I believe the eponymous starship captain would approve of this clever solution.

This pattern uses what I call the “closed fingerless cast off method.” The cables on the front are MIRRORED - the left mitt has a left cable and the right mitt has a right cable.
