Janet o' Burraland Gloves
These gloves are a traditional Shetland glove design knitted with Shetland 4ply wool in the round on double pointed needles.
You need at least 2 balls of main colour if using Jamieson’s Spindrift when knitting full fingers. Or one ball of Jamieson and Smith wool if using the Shetland Supreme as it is sold in 50g balls.
The gloves will fit an average female hand - 7.5” or 19.05cm on widest part of hand excluding thumb.
The gloves can be made fingerless or with full fingers to the length required by intended wearer.

You don’t need to have complete 25g balls of the contrasting colours and it is up to you how many colours to use. Therefore you can use up some stash of Shetland wool 4ply colours for the contrast colours.
There are two charts one in the colourways I have used - 1 main colour and 4 contrasting colours and the second chart that is black and white which some knitters prefer.
There is a third chart for the palm of the hand which is a 4 stitch repeat stitch.
The thumb is an afterthought or peasant thumb.
