The cap is knitted in two pieces, a long rectangle and a “D” shaped back. The Fair Isle pattern on the sides and top of the cap is a mirrored diamond derived from a group of fabrics known as point twills. (Interweave)

FINISHED SIZE Small (medium, large). The long brim rectangle measures 4¼ (4½, 4¾)“ wide and 12¼ (13¼, 14¼)” long. The cap back is 4½ (5, 5¼)“ wide and 4¼ (4½, 5)” high.

YARN Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash (100% superwash wool; 220 yd 201 m/3½ oz [100 g]): #884 skyline blue (MC), #910A winter white (CC1), #883 Puget Sound (CC2); 1 skein each.

NEEDLES Small cap—size 3 (3.25 mm); medium cap—size 4 (3.5 mm); large cap—size 5 (3.75 mm): straight and 2 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTIONS Size D/3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook; markers (m); tapestry needle.
