Jacket Sleeves
by Bonnie Franz
Design Notes:
Many of the earliest knitted relics in Sweden are sleeves, which were sewn to woven jackets, for both men and women. Often these were knitted in white and black yarn, then the finished piece was dyed red to produce a pattern in read and red/black. My version uses a pre-made denim jacket… You can cut the sleeve out very neatly, or you can leave a raggy edge for a more casual look.
Materials
- denim jacket (with sleeves removed)
- 100% Swedish Yarn (100% wool, 100g/3.5oz, approx. 310 yds/skein) 2 skeins redflame, 1 skein greyflame
- quilting thread (for sewing sleeves to jacket)
- needles size 3US(3mm) and 4US(3.5mm) or size needed to get gauge
