This crocheted jack-o’-lantern would be a great addition to any Halloween decoration! You can light it up with a LED tealight or fill it with candies; and unlike a real carved pumpkin, it will last for years to come.

I designed the pumpkin with double layers for stability, and to block any light from shining through the crochet fabric - not to mention that the color contrast between the skin and the flesh makes it look much cooler! And because it is entirely worked in the round without turned rows, it has a perfectly even surface throughout.

The pattern is available with both right-handed and left-handed illustrations (in two separate pdf files).

Size
About 12.5cm (5”) wide and 13.5 cm (5 1/4”) tall to the tip of the stem, if made with aran weight yarn.

Tools and materials:
~ worsted or aran weight yarn in 3 colors: dark orange, light orange or yellow, and beige or brown
~ 3.5mm/US size E hook (or size that gives you a tight, no-gaps fabric)
~ small amount of stuffing for the stem
~ stitch markers, scissors, yarn needle
~ optional: a LED tealight (about 4cm/1 ½” diameter)
~ optional, to stiffen the lantern: white glue, a paintbrush, a small bowl, plastic bags and fiberfill stuffing

Difficulty
This pattern is suitable for intermediate level crocheters who are confident with basic stitches and frequently used amigurumi techniques (ch, sl st, sc, invisible decrease, magic ring, working in BLO/FLO, color change). It is seamless except for optionally sewing together the layers at the bottom of the eye holes and between the teeth.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology (UK/Aus equivalents provided). It contains many in-progress photos, but also includes a text-only appendix for easy printing, if you prefer working from a printed pattern but want to save ink and paper.

Finished items made from this pattern are yours to keep or gift or sell, I only ask you to credit me as the designer in case you decide to sell them.
