Jaali Crocheted Shawl Variations
‘Jaali’ is Hindi for ‘Mesh’. The word has various applications including architecture, textiles, utensils etc. I designed the knitted version of this shawl as a gift for my boss’ wedding. She is a very important person in my life and I wanted to make something truly special for her. I decided to take the plunge and design my first shawl. Once I did that, I didn’t want the crocheter in me to be left craving. So I decided to make a crocheted version of Jaali. The construction and techniques are almost the same. I even tried to find a motif that would emulate the same kind of lacy effect in the border. I think I did well. I can do better, but that is for another attempt.
Depending on your preferences you can work up a scarf or a shawl in triangular, trapezoidal, or full-square shape, all from the same pattern.
The 5 page pdf consists of written instructions and charts to help you work up a scarf/ shawlette/ or a full-sized shawl.
